If your dog is a sun-worshipping beach bum then Altona Dog Beach is a great day out. It’s best at low-tide when there is plenty of running space. There are water bowls and bins – best to bring your own poop bags – and a short ride to some nearby cafes and restaurants. You can access via Burns Reserve or Altona Sports Club.
